The name Alapta Wan, 

indisputably, can not elude 

the minds of any music lover, 

when quizzed about the 

most vibrant and promising 

artiste from Upper-East and 

Ghana at large. 

This article shall, 

dedicatedly, 

take a dive into the 

personality of this young promising artiste 

championing a male-

dominated genre of music 

from the North, Upper-East 

to be precise. A pinch of her 

early life, that of her 

education as well as her 

musical journey shall be dealt with. It shall, as well, 

capture her projects; the 

finished and the upcoming 

ones and her awards and honours. 

EARLY LIFE. 

ALAPTA WAN, as 

affectionately chanted by her 

close associates and 

acquaintances, was 

ceremonially christened 

FELICITY NKETIAH . She 

was born on the 9th 

October, 2000 to a 

Christian nuclear family of 

six (5); parents inclusive. She 

is, by default, a practising 

Christian. She is the firstborn 

of 3 siblings. Alapta Wan, 

hails from BOLGATANGA, a 

Gurune(Frafra) speaking 

urban City in Ghana. Born 

into a multi-lingual environ, 

the uprising star can express 

herself, with utmost fluency, 

in Frafra, Twi , English and 

Patoi Lingua. Her 

unflinching desire for music 

was evident in her at a tender age.

 

EDUCATION 

The fastest uprising lyricist 

started her primary 

education at St. George 

School and procceeded to 

Junior High education at 

Sacred Heart JHS where 

she sat for BECE in 2014. 

She , upon a successful 

completion of her BECE, 

continued to Paga Senior 

High where she graduated 

with a WASSCE certificate 

in General Art. Her love for 

music pushed her to vying 

for the post of 

Entertainment prefect at 

senior high school, which 

she won by a greater margin. 

Though, she is currently 

pursing her long wish dream 

in music, she hopes to chase 

her academic goals, as well, 

to the highest level possible. 

CAREER.

Her music career kicked off 

aggresively right after her 

successful completion of her 

WASSCE. For her 

outstanding prowess over 

the mic, Alapta was signed 

onto SAVANNAH 

RECORDS based in Upper-

East. She, under the 

supervision of this able label, 

recorded several hit songs to 

her name. African Is 

Bleeding, Hear wi, Fine 

boy, Bossu, Baaya are 

among a a lot others from 

her that enjoyed massive 

airplay accross the region 

and its environs. 

Her consistency and 

hardworking nature solidified 

her status as the three times 

consecutive winner  of 

Reggae/dancehall artist of 

the year at UEMA(Upper 

East Music Awards)  and 

2020 Reggae/dancehall 

artist of the year at Northern 

Entertainment Awards.

 She proved her worth in the 

year 2022 when she was, 

again, nominated under the 

category of NEXT-RATED 

ARTISTE(UPPEREAST)  at 

3MUSIC AWARDS. 

This mileage honored her 

the accreditation to perform 

on prestigious platforms 

along side bigger brands in 

Ghana and Burkina Faso.

Last year, 2021,  she represented Ghana as the 

only artist to perform at the Cross Culture 

International Foundation ( AU Day ) at Malta. 

Alaptawan was again 

invited among other six girls 

in creative art across the 

globe to partake in the 2022 

BGG(BLACK GIRLS GLOW) serminar hosted in Ghana. 

She, was recently, endorsed by the Ghanaian 

Raggae/Afro-Dancehall, as 

the most promising artiste 

from the East. 

The twenty-two-year-old 

damsel is still single and focused musically.
